Last updated: 7 October 2026

1.About this policy

This policy explains how AssetChain Finance Pty Ltd (ACN 702 856 219) collects, holds, uses and discloses your personal information. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean AssetChain Finance.

We are an Australian asset and commercial finance broker. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By using our website or giving us your information, you agree to the handling of your personal information as described here.

2.Information we collect

The information we collect depends on what you ask us to help with. It may include:

  • Identity and contact details: name, date of birth, address, phone, email and identification documents (for example a driver licence) used to verify who you are.
  • Financial information: income, employment, assets, liabilities, living expenses, bank statements, tax returns, BAS and business financials.
  • Business details: ABN or ACN, business structure, directors, guarantors and trading history.
  • Asset details: the vehicle, equipment or machinery you want to finance, including supplier quotes and invoices.
  • Credit-related information: credit history, repayment history and credit reports or scores, obtained with your consent.
  • Website and technical data: IP address, device and browser type, pages visited and referring site, collected through cookies (see our Cookie Policy).
  • Communications: your enquiries, emails, messages and notes of our conversations.

We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health or membership details) unless it is relevant to your request, for example financial hardship. We only collect it with your consent or where the law allows.

We may collect government identifiers, such as a licence number, to verify your identity as the law requires. We do not use them as our own identifier for you.

3.How we collect it

We collect personal information:

  • directly from you, through enquiry forms, calls, emails, meetings, applications and our website;
  • from third parties, such as lenders, credit reporting bodies (with your consent), accountants, referrers, equipment dealers or suppliers, and identity verification providers;
  • from publicly available sources, such as the ASIC and ABN registers; and
  • automatically, through cookies and similar technologies when you use our website.

If you give us information about another person, such as a director or guarantor, please make sure they know and agree that you have done so, and that they can read this policy.

4.Why we collect, hold, use and disclose it

We use your information to:

  • understand your needs and assess which finance options may suit you;
  • provide credit assistance, prepare and submit applications, and negotiate with lenders on your behalf;
  • meet our legal obligations, including record-keeping and identity verification under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth);
  • manage our relationship with you, including support, billing and complaints;
  • operate, secure and improve our website and services; and
  • tell you about our services, where you have agreed or the law allows (see Direct marketing).

If you choose not to give us the information we ask for, we may not be able to assess your needs or help you apply for finance.

5.Who we share it with

We may disclose your personal information to:

  • lenders, financiers and their agents, so they can assess and process your application;
  • credit reporting bodies, where you have consented to a credit check;
  • professional advisers who support our business, such as our accountants and lawyers;
  • valuers, insurers, equipment suppliers and dealers involved in your transaction;
  • your accountant, solicitor or other adviser, and referrers, where you ask us to or agree;
  • service providers who support us, such as IT, CRM, cloud storage, email, identity verification and marketing providers;
  • regulators, courts and law enforcement, where required or authorised by law; and
  • a buyer or successor, if our business is sold or restructured.

We only share what is reasonably needed, and we require our service providers to protect your information. We do not sell your personal information.

Where we help you apply for credit, we may ask you to consent to a credit check. Lenders may also disclose information about your application to credit reporting bodies. You can ask a credit reporting body not to use or disclose your credit information if you believe you have been, or may be, a victim of fraud.

6.Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers, such as cloud storage, email and software providers, may store or access your information on servers outside Australia.

Before we share your information overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure the recipient handles it in line with the APPs, for example through contracts, access controls and secure systems. Lenders may also use overseas providers. They are responsible for their own privacy practices, which are set out in their privacy policies.

7.Direct marketing

We may send you information about our services by email, SMS, phone or social media where you have consented, or where the law otherwise allows. We comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) and the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth).

Every marketing message includes a way to opt out. You can also ask us to stop at any time by contacting us using the details in Complaints, changes and contact. We will act on your request promptly. We do not sell or rent our marketing lists.

8.Security, storage and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access. These include secure cloud systems, access controls, multi-factor authentication where available, and confidentiality obligations for our team and service providers.

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. We generally keep records for seven years after our relationship with you ends, or longer where the law requires. After that, we destroy or de-identify the information securely.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. Please take care when sending sensitive documents by email, and ask us about our secure upload options.

9.Access, correction and data breaches

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details in Complaints, changes and contact. We will verify your identity and respond within 30 days. We may charge a reasonable fee to cover the cost of providing access, and we will tell you before we do. If we cannot give you access or correct your information, we will explain why in writing.

If we experience a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will assess it promptly and notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
